Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains what personal information CarVoltX may collect, why we use it, and the choices you have. It is written in plain language for visitors and account holders. Scope

This policy covers the CarVoltX websites and related tools we operate. It does not cover third-party websites you open from our pages (for example manufacturer or dealer sites). Those services have their own privacy notices.

Information we may process

• Account details: name, email address, password hash, and preferred market or language when you create or update an account.
• Messages you send us: contact-form submissions (topic, name, email, subject, message, optional page URL) and similar support emails.
• Activity you choose to submit: favorites, price alerts, community reviews, and data-correction reports.
• Preferences: market and language choices stored in cookies, local storage, or your account. If you dismiss the optional notification prompt, the browser remembers that choice on this device.
• Browser notifications: if you turn them on, we store the subscription your browser gives us (a delivery address and keys), the browser type, the market you were viewing, the time you subscribed, and your account id when you are signed in. We use that only to send the alerts you asked for.
• Technical data: limited server logs, security and rate-limiting metadata, browser type, and approximate network information needed to run and protect the service.
• Analytics: aggregated or pseudonymous usage data from web analytics (including Google Analytics) such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser category, and traffic source. This helps us understand how the site is used.

How we use information

• Operate accounts, sign-in, and password reset flows.
• Remember market and language preferences.
• Respond to contact messages, advertising enquiries, press requests, and catalogue corrections.
• Send product emails you asked for (for example price alerts), where that feature is enabled.
• Send browser notifications you turn on, about new updates, guides, and catalogue changes. Turning them on is separate from accepting cookies, and you can turn them off in the notification card or in your browser.
• Moderate user-submitted content and keep the service secure.
• Measure site performance and improve navigation, content, and tools.

We do not sell your personal information.

Legal bases (where applicable)

Depending on your location, we may process information because you asked us to provide a service, because you consented (for example optional cookies or marketing emails), because we have a legitimate interest in running a secure catalogue and improving the product, or because the law requires us to keep certain records.

Sharing

We may share information with:

• Hosting, email delivery, analytics, and security providers that help us operate CarVoltX.
• Staff and contractors who need access for support, moderation, or engineering, under confidentiality expectations.
• Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
• Advertising partners such as Google, which may receive cookie and device information to show and measure ads, as described in the Advertising section.

We do not share your contact-form message publicly.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies or similar storage for:

• Sign-in sessions and security.
• Remembering market and language choices.
• Understanding traffic and page performance through web analytics.
• Remembering, in local storage on your device, whether you dismissed the optional notification prompt and which notification subscription this browser already saved. That storage is not a cookie.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser. Some features may stop working until preferences are set again. Analytics tools may set their own cookies; you can use browser controls or industry opt-out tools where available.

Optional browser notifications are delivered by your browser's own push service. We do not ask for notification permission inside the cookie banner, and we do not turn notifications on unless you choose Turn on after you have accepted cookies.

CarVoltX is free to use and is funded in part by advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet, where you have allowed this.

Your ad choices

• Turn off personalised ads from Google in Google Ads Settings.

• You can change your cookie choices on this site at any time from the cookie settings link, and clear or block cookies in your browser.

Opting out of personalised ads does not remove ads. You may still see ads, but they will be less related to your interests. Advertisers do not influence our editorial content. See our advertising disclosure and cookie policy.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for security, dispute handling, or legal requirements. Contact messages and correction reports are kept as long as needed to handle your request and for moderation history. Server logs are rotated on a normal operational schedule. Analytics data is retained according to the analytics product settings we configure.

Your choices

• Update account details while signed in, where the product allows it.
• Request access, correction, or deletion of personal account data by emailing reachus@carvoltx.com.
• Unsubscribe from optional product emails using the link in those emails, where provided.
• Turn browser notifications off from the Notifications link in the footer, or in your browser's site settings. When you turn them off, or the browser tells us the subscription is no longer valid, we delete that subscription.
• Clear cookies and site data in your browser.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

Children

CarVoltX is aimed at adults researching vehicle purchases. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact reachus@carvoltx.com and we will take appropriate steps.

International visitors

CarVoltX can be visited from many countries. Servers and processors may be located in different regions. By using the site you understand that information may be processed outside your home country, subject to applicable safeguards and law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No online service is perfectly secure. Please use a strong unique password for your account and keep it private.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page as features or laws change. The updated text will appear on this URL. Continued use of CarVoltX after a change means you accept the revised policy, where that is allowed by law.
