Suzuki

Suzuki is an automotive brand associated with Japan. Its commonly cited modern founding or brand-launch year is 1909, and its headquarters or principal operating base is in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. Understanding that background is important because some names began as independent companies, while others were created later as specialist marques within larger automotive groups. Michio Suzuki founded Suzuki Loom Works in Hamamatsu in 1909. After decades of producing weaving machinery, the company diversified into motorised bicycles during the early 1950s and introduced its first production car, the Suzulight, in 1955. It later adopted the Suzuki Motor name as vehicles became its core business. Suzuki is famous for compact, lightweight and fuel-efficient cars, motorcycles and capable small four-wheel-drive vehicles. Partnerships and local manufacturing helped it build a particularly strong presence across Asia and other value-conscious markets.
