Toyota

Toyota is an automotive brand associated with Japan. Its commonly cited modern founding or brand-launch year is 1937, and its headquarters or principal operating base is in Toyota City, Aichi. Understanding that background is important because some names began as independent companies, while others were created later as specialist marques within larger automotive groups. Toyota Motor Corporation was founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda as an automotive division separated from Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. Early passenger and commercial vehicles were followed by post-war expansion, international manufacturing and the development of the Toyota Production System. Toyota became one of the world’s largest automakers and is famous for manufacturing efficiency, durability and widely recognised vehicles ranging from compact cars to Land Cruiser off-roaders. The Prius, launched in 1997, helped popularise mass-market hybrid technology.
