Peugeot

Peugeot is an automotive brand associated with France. Its commonly cited modern founding or brand-launch year is 1810, and its headquarters or principal operating base is in Poissy, France under Stellantis. Understanding that background is important because some names began as independent companies, while others were created later as specialist marques within larger automotive groups. The Peugeot family business was founded in 1810 and initially produced steel goods, tools and later bicycles. Armand Peugeot moved the company toward automobiles in the late nineteenth century, and Peugeot produced an early steam vehicle in 1889 followed by petrol-powered cars. The lion emblem predates its automobile production. Peugeot became one of France’s best-known manufacturers, building cars, commercial vehicles and successful competition machines. It later became part of PSA Group, which merged with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2021 to form Stellantis.
