Deepal

Deepal is an automotive brand associated with China. Its commonly cited modern founding or brand-launch year is 2022, and its headquarters or principal operating base is in Chongqing. Understanding that background is important because some names began as independent companies, while others were created later as specialist marques within larger automotive groups. Deepal grew from Changan’s new-energy operations, whose corporate roots extend to projects formed in 2008 and a reorganised new-energy company established in 2018. The Shenlan name appeared with the SL03 in 2022, while Deepal became the international English identity and a more independent brand structure in 2023. The marque was created to accelerate Changan’s presence in intelligent new-energy vehicles. It combines dedicated electric architecture, digital cabins and a design programme with international input.
