Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Launched in India at ₹78.50 Lakh: Price, Specs and Charging

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Launched in India at ₹78.50 Lakh: Price, Specs and Charging

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the GLC Electric, bringing an all-electric version of one of its most popular SUVs to Indian buyers. Offered as a single, well-equipped GLC 400 4MATIC variant, it pairs strong performance with fast charging, a genuinely practical boot and one of the most tech-heavy cabins in its class. If you have been waiting for a luxury electric SUV that feels as usable day to day as it is quick, this one deserves a close look.

Price and launch details

The GLC Electric went on sale in India on 4 November 2026. There is one variant at launch:

Variant Ex-showroom price
GLC 400 4MATIC electric ₹78,50,000 (₹78.50 lakh)

Importantly for pricing and availability, the car is built locally at Mercedes-Benz's Chakan plant near Pune. Local production helps keep the price competitive for a luxury electric SUV of this size and specification. Remember that the on-road price will be higher once registration, insurance and other charges for your city are added.

Specs and charging

The GLC 400 4MATIC uses a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup with a combined output of 489 hp (360 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz quotes a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds, which puts it firmly in performance territory for a family SUV.

Charging is a real highlight. The GLC Electric supports DC fast charging at up to about 330 kW, and Mercedes-Benz says a 10 to 80 per cent top-up takes about 22 minutes on a suitably powerful charger. In practice, your charging times will depend on the charger you use, as many public units in India deliver less than this peak figure.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed India-specific battery capacity or certified range, so we will update our model page as soon as official figures are published.

Cabin and space

Step inside and the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen dominates the dashboard, stretching across the cabin for the driver and front passenger. Above, the SKY CONTROL panoramic roof brightens the interior, while a Burmester 3D sound system takes care of entertainment. Driver assistance comes through MB.DRIVE with Level 2 functions, designed to ease the load on longer highway runs and in heavy traffic.

Practicality is strong too. Total luggage space is 698 litres, made up of a 570-litre boot and a 128-litre front storage compartment (frunk). The frunk is handy for keeping charging cables and smaller bags separate from the main boot, which makes family trips and airport runs easier.

Bookings and demand

Early interest appears healthy. Mercedes-Benz India has indicated more than 1,000 bookings, with delivery slots reportedly stretching into March 2027. If you are keen, it is worth speaking to your dealer early about expected waiting times for your city.
